Reflections on a social media journey...
This morning as I was reading through my tweets I was struck again by the thought of how amazing social media really is. The fact that we can find people all over the world who share interests with us, that are of like mind, or who see things entirely differently and that we can begin to develop friendships as we help one another and share experiences as we journey through life together... It's really an incredible thing. When I first got involved there were some days when I wondered what I was doing. Was I taking the right approach? Was it worth all the time and effort? The early hours and late nights? Some days the information flow seemed overwhelming and left me with the feeling that if you don't keep up, you'll be left behind. Other times in the midst of all the noise you can feel a bit lonely like when you're away from home in a sea of strangers and want to be back with the stability and care of those you love. But thankfully things don't stay that way. Friendships blossom, relationships deepen, growth happens, you see positive results from your efforts, you're able to help and encourage people. It's all good. Personally, I think the world is a better place because of the tools that have been created to help us all connect, learn and communicate and I'm really appreciative for those who pioneered the way to make this all happen. So I'd like to say thank you. What you've done and are doing is making a positive difference on our planet and I'm glad to be apart of it.
